Meet the Mind behind EVD• Marketing

EVD•  Marketing was built on one simple belief: marketing decisions should be driven by evidence—not assumptions.

Julia St. John, Digital Marketing & PPC Strategist at EVD Marketing in Prescott, Arizona

Hi, I’m Julia St. John.

I’m based in Prescott, Arizona, where I help businesses turn digital attention into meaningful action.

As a Digital Marketing Strategist, I focus on what happens between attention and action—why people search, what earns the click, and what turns that interest into a decision.

I’m interested in the space between the click and the decision.

PPC gives us numbers—impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, conversions. But behind every number is a person making a decision.

That’s the part of marketing that fascinates me.

Why did someone search? What made them stop and click? What did they expect to find when they got there? And why did they act—or leave?

I don’t believe growth comes from simply spending more. It comes from understanding more.

Data tells me where to look. Curiosity makes me ask why. Testing tells me whether I was right.

I’d rather challenge an assumption than optimize it.

Because good marketing begins where assumptions end.

Strategy Built Around the Entire Customer Journey

As a digital marketing strategist, I look beyond the ad itself. A strong campaign connects search intent, messaging, landing-page experience, and measurement into one customer journey.

My work combines PPC strategy, Google Ads, analytics, conversion thinking, and continuous testing. The goal isn’t simply to generate more clicks. It’s to understand which clicks matter, what happens after them, and how each part of the experience influences the next decision.

That means looking at search terms and campaign data alongside the human behavior behind them. What was someone actually trying to accomplish? Did the message match that intent? Did the landing page continue the conversation the ad started?

I use Google Ads, GA4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio, Screaming Frog, AnswerThePublic, Google Keyword Planner, and AI-powered research and content tools to research, measure, analyze, and turn those questions into better decisions. I use AI to accelerate research, explore ideas, and refine content—but strategy, interpretation, and decision-making remain human-led.

For me, being an digital marketing strategist means working in a cycle: question, test, measure, learn, improve. That’s how campaigns become smarter over time—not by assuming we already know the answer.

The EVD• Marketing Principles

Numbers Need a Story

Numbers matter — but only when they’re connected to real customer behavior. I don’t look at metrics in isolation. I want to understand what caused them, what happened before the click, and what happened after it. Data becomes useful when it helps explain a decision.

Ask First, Optimize Second

The best marketing starts with asking better questions. I’m naturally curious, and I don’t like accepting “that’s just how it works” as an answer. I’d rather challenge an assumption, test an idea, and let the evidence tell me what to do next.

Better, Not Final

I don’t expect the first version to be the final version. Every campaign is an opportunity to learn, refine, and make the next decision better. Small improvements compound — and good optimization never really ends.
